The Ammonite Corset is Complete

Hello Friends,

I recently completed Ammonite Corset which I had designed almost 2 years ago. I was waiting for the right leather to show up and I think this pewter metallic patent leather is just perfect with it’s greeny-gold tones.
The corset alone is comprised of 18 separate pieces and was quite complex to construct with it’s spiral cup bust. I think the mirror embellishments nicely accent the shape, but I believe  the most unique feature is the three-dimensional spine in the back. The spine actually detaches and can be worn as a belt as well!
In order to create the perfect cohesive look, I also created the skirt from scratch. I used white silk charmeuse and went  as far as to custom dye it using ancient Japanese techniques. I have to say it was an exciting process because the color of the skirt changed by the minute as it dried! In the end I think it turned out really interesting with it’s striations and mottling, almost mimicking a gemstone like Rhyolite or Picture Jasper. If you want to see more, there are plenty of photos of the Ammonite Corset in my gallery!
Thanks,
Larissa
