Why Is a Raven Like a Writing Desk?

I recently completed this corset based upon the much loved illustrations by John Tenniel of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. Creating this corset for my client was like visiting beloved childhood friends. I went back and re-read some of the material from the book and I had forgotten that the story holds a lot of truths about life which are just as poignant and useful for adults as they are for children, perhaps even more so. The reason I started this blog was to show you my journey as I develop as an artist, so without further ado – here is what I have created  and here is what I have learned.

” I knew who I was this morning, but I have changed a few times since then.” – Alice

“It takes all the running you can do to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run twice as fast as that!” – The Red Queen

“Begin at the beginning  and go until you come to the end: then stop.” – The King

“Why is a raven like a writing desk?” – The Hatter
