Urban Fairytale

I recently had the pleasure of collaborating with a dear friend and fellow artist Scott Riddle. Scott is primarily a ceramic artist who creates astounding hand-sculpted microcosms which often reference the beauty of the natural world, Native American culture, sexuality, and human behavior. He has exhibited his work through out the world, showing in Japan,

Kind Compliments

“Before Wilde Hunt, I had never known that such dreamy, ethereal and romantic pieces could be fashioned from hardy leather. It is said that his company House of Worth was so successful that it actually had to turn away customers.

This bustier is made of Italian lambskin ornamented with a print I created in house. The asymmetrical pattern provided a unique challenge.

I created this corset to answer the burning question – “If David Bowie and Queen Elizabeth I were the same person what would they wear?”
I thought that Elizabeth I ‘s motto “Semper Eadem” was particularly appropriate for this piece because I feel like fashion’s frequent fluctuations are actually a strange form of constancy. Trends get recycled and so fashion is ultimately- ” Always the Same”. Click below to read more about my process….
